Potatoes from the Netherlands sell well, as their price is comparable to that of Ukrainian potatoes.

In the Netherlands and Belgium, the companies for the production of potato chips have stopped, so that the remains of the root crop have accumulated in the countries.

Industrial potatoes from the Netherlands entered the Ukrainian market, which was previously supposed to be phased out. This was announced on Monday, May 11 on the East Fruit website.

As noted in the material, the root crop variety sold to Ukraine is intended solely for the production of potato chips.

“But this did not bother potato suppliers in the Ukrainian market,” says the material.

Wholesalers in Ukraine paid 30-35 cents or 8-9 hryvnias per kilogram for a product, which is comparable to the prices of Ukrainian potatoes.

In total, around two million tonnes of potatoes would be eliminated in the Netherlands.

Furthermore, the Netherlands announced the allocation of € 50 million to support potato growers and processors affected by the situation.

Previously, in chicken, imported to Ukraine from Poland, salmonella was found.
