Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Vadim Pristayko emphasized that the authorities do not interfere in the process of recruiting Ukrainians and do not control citizens who go to work abroad.

Vadim Pristayko, deputy prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, said in an interview with Nimetsky Khvili that around 15,000 Ukrainians could go abroad to work this season.

According to him, only Finland needs 12 to 15 thousand Ukrainian labor migrants for agricultural work, which will last until August. He added that 802 Ukrainians should go to Austria. In other countries, the Ukrainian government does not have exact numbers.

“It is difficult to say about Germany due to its federal structure. In the Czech Republic, our employees are the largest ethnic group,” added Pristayko.

The official assured that the Ukrainian government does not intervene in the process of hiring Ukrainian migrant workers. “The Ukrainian government does not limit [процесс найма]. We are just trying to give some coordination to this movement, “emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.

He assured that the government “does not verify the contracts, does not help and does not interfere with these contracts.” “We do not ask what people are going to do, we do not know how much they are paid,” Pristayko concluded.

Problems have been reported with the departure of seasonal workers abroad since the end of April. Pristayko said that Ukraine “does not prohibit traveling abroad, but is trying to rationalize the issue of employment abroad on the basis of restrictions that have been introduced for all citizens of Ukraine.”

On May 10, President Vladimir Zelensky announced that Kiev does not prevent citizens from traveling abroad, but the authorities want to ensure “that if something happens to our citizen, they will not throw him out.”
