The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that possible problems with the departure of Ukrainians abroad are associated only with restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but no other restrictions were introduced.

British Embassy in Ukraine May 7 reportedthat Ukrainian citizens who want to fly to the UK must obtain permission from the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Ukrainian citizens who permanently reside in the United Kingdom and wish [вылететь в Соединенное Королевство]you can receive permission to travel at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs [Украины]. The British embassy will assist in this matter by sending information to the Foreign Office on the planned trip and details of its status in the UK, “a Facebook statement said.

Referring to data received from the Ukrainian authorities, the embassy noted that “only Ukrainians permanently residing in foreign countries may leave Ukraine.”

According to Evropeiskaya Pravda, on May 10, after the media resonance, the declaration of the diplomatic institution was corrected (the previous version of the publication is shown in the history of the editions).

Now the report says that Ukrainians who permanently reside in the UK and intend to go there “must confirm their status”.

The publication writes that this can significantly complicate travel abroad, for example, for Ukrainian temporary workers.

In the explanation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, provided to “European Truth”, it is observed that “the current legislation does not establish any additional restriction on the departure of Ukrainian citizens abroad”.

“In the context of countering the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in Ukraine, the government decided to close certain border crossing points, in particular for air traffic,” said the Foreign Ministry, adding that foreign diplomatic missions in Ukraine they were informed about the list of these points.

The Foreign Ministry assured that they did not provide permits or denials of permission to travel abroad and that they did not transmit this information to diplomatic agencies.

Problems have been reported with the departure of seasonal workers abroad since the end of April. Deputy Prime Minister Vadim Pristayko said Ukraine “does not prohibit [выезд за границу]and is trying to rationalize the issue of employment abroad based on the restrictions that have been introduced for all citizens of Ukraine. “

On May 10, President Vladimir Zelensky announced that Kiev does not prevent citizens from traveling abroad, but the authorities want to ensure “that if something happens to our citizen, they will not throw him out.”
