Former Vice President of the Carpathians and One of the candidates for the post of UPL president, Oleg Smalyychuk, said under what conditions he is ready to work if elected.
“Historically, it turned out that clubs initially elect the president to lead soccer, but as a result they begin to lead the president himself. The president of the UPL becomes a political figure who wipes his pants and gets paid.”
I am ready for a year to work for free. None of you club owners and presidents will ask you for a penny. But in return, give me the right to express my position in a meeting with you. An unpopular position that you probably won’t like.
The question “Live or not live” is a very acute one. It is not the fact that we are already at the bottom, but very close. It may happen that there is nothing to save. My position is simple: the time for political arrangements and schemes should go back in time. Football in our country should become a religion, not a toy in the hands of the oligarchs.
I’ve been living in Europe for 20 years, I’m already embarrassed to introduce myself as manager of Ukraine. I’m not even talking about the quality or the image of our clubs. 8 out of 10 students in our academies do not resist competition and criticism in Europe. As a result, they return to Ukraine, in a hot bath.
Therefore, we are now about to make decisive decisions. I am no one to reconcile the parties to the conflict. If you do not reconcile and understand that we have already played enough so that there is no soccer in this country, then you do not need either the president or the UPL.
