Parks and squares during the quarantine period in Ukraine were closed not because of influencing the epidemiological process, but because of the psychological effect on people. This practice was taken from other countries.
According to the chief medical doctor, Viktor Lyashko, the closure of parks and squares and spray roads are not so much a question of the impact on the epidemiological process as they are psychological. According to him, when the parks are closed, people do not think that everything is safe, therefore, psychologically they prepare for quarantine. And they feel anxiety at the same time.
Lyashko added that Ukraine borrowed the practice of psychological influence from other states.
– When I initially analyzed the measures that were introduced in the People’s Republic of China, then in Italy, I also thought from an epidemiological point of view why they were doing this. If it is a drip infection, it does not affect, for example, these transmission routes. Then when they began to analyze, they began to communicate through epidemiologists with ambassadors, they said that people do not see, this is an invisible infection, then it is necessary to create some kind of psychological effect. And thanks to this psychological effect, people had a sense of danger and compliance with quarantine measures introduced by the government, – said the chief doctor.
