Recall, on April 4 last year, the European Parliament adopted an updated directive (EU law) that extends the EU gas market rules to pipelines installed from countries outside the Union, including Nord Stream-2. Among the main provisions of the directive is the separation of the companies that supply gas and the companies that transport it. This means that the operator of the company Nord Stream-2 should be independent from Gazprom, and 50% of its capacity should be reserved for alternative providers. Exceptions are possible, but only with the approval of the European Commission.
