Mikheil Saakashvili, appointed on May 7 as head of the reform committee, must address customs reform.
This was stated by Vladimir Zelensky in a briefing as part of a working visit to Transcarpathia, reports Ukrinform.
“I do not expect results from Saakashvili’s work the second day after his appointment, but it should be in the coming months. The result is about business deregulation and customs reform,” said the head of state.
He also emphasized that during the presidency in Georgia, Saakashvili successfully fought corruption there and made the most modern customs.
“We talked about this a lot with him. He said he put new people into customs at the time, then dispersed everyone. After a while he installed others and had to disperse again. Well, something so difficult is customs reform I want you to. ” She was involved in that, “said Zelensky.
“The second point is that it has quite strong investment ties with many countries. When they built Batumi, it attracted several investors, then they built big chain hotels. They have experience,” added the president.
Furthermore, according to Zelensky, Saakashvili’s help will be needed in Ukraine to reform the pension system.
“He has a lot to do, a lot of reforms,” the president concluded.
Recall that after Saakashvili’s appointment as head of the Executive Committee for Reforms in Ukraine, Tbilisi recalled the Kiev ambassador for consultations.
Later, Georgian Prime Minister George Gaharii said that this step was necessary to protect relations with Ukraine.
