Law enforcement officers are considering two versions of large-scale fires in the Zhytomyr region.
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said this during a meeting of the operational headquarters in Ovruch, Zhytomyr region, according to the Communications Department of the Interior Ministry.

“The primary fires were the result of severe dry air, which cut the power grid. However, we have some facts that suggest the fire was intentional. That is why a group of MIA specialists led by my adviser Vladislav Bukharev is working today in the Zhytomyr region. The investigation is ongoing, “said Avakov.
The minister also said that the human factor cannot be rejected.
“When the new moon is incredibly entertaining and in dry weather, there is almost no snow in winter, deliberately burning the grass. In the past three days, we have detained several people who were trapped in burning grass and rubble at the edge of the forest, “added the head of the Interior Ministry.
Avakov also noted that fire suppression in the Chernobyl area is still ongoing. Currently, all causes of inflammation are being established. While rescuers and police consider the main version of the fires to be a low, dry forest floor in winter.
“In Chernobyl the fire is still extinguished, but the situation is completely controlled. Furthermore, we will all draw conclusions from this situation. The rules of action will be changed in protected areas, including the Exclusion Zone, ”said Avakov.
The meeting also took place with the participation of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexei Danilov, the head of the Office of President Andriy Ermak, the president of the SES of Ukraine Mykola Chechotkin, the heads of the Zhytomyr region and the State Agency of Forestry.
According to UNIAN, forest fires in the Zhytomyr region and the exclusion zone started on April 4. As of this morning, in the Zhytomyr region, rescuers and foresters extinguish 9 fires, in the Chernobyl-4 area.
In the Zhytomyr region, forest fire spread to settlements, dozens of residential buildings were burned.
The adviser to the Interior Minister, Zoryan Shkiryak, did not rule out that the situation with the fires that continue in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions may be the result of a planned diversion.
