On the night of Friday, May 1, the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant disconnected Unit 4 from the country’s power system to carry out scheduled repairs, the Energoatom press service said.
“On May 1, 2020, at 00:01, the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant’s No. 4 power unit was disconnected from the grid and capitalized for scheduled preventive repair,” the report said.
The network contains 2 power units with a total capacity of 1,970 MW.
It is specified that in the power unit No. 3 there are 134 days of planned revision, in the power unit No. 5 16 days of planned average repair. Unit 2 is in reserve.
“There are no comments on the operation of the main equipment of the existing power units and personnel. The radiation background in the area of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and in the health protection zone (the area around the nuclear power plant with a radius of 2.5 km) is 8-12 microroentgen per hour, which corresponds to the background of natural radiation. ” observed in the Energoatom.
