Several 5G mobile towers have been hacked or set on fire this week in the Netherlands by people who are against the deployment of 5G. This was reported by the local newspaper De Telegraaf, reports Reuters.

According to the newspaper, four incidents were reported this week. Instead of one of them, the canopy applied a slogan against 5G.

The Terrorism and Security Authority (NCTV) confirmed that “several incidents” related to cell towers were reported last week, including damage and arson. According to NCTV, one possible reason is to counter the deployment of the 5G network. Statements against 5G have been heard repeatedly in the Netherlands. They were mainly related to the fear that radio waves could harm human health. Concerns also increase the risk that new technologies may violate privacy.

The main telecommunications providers in the Netherlands are still testing 5G and have not yet started to deploy their networks in anticipation of the spectrum auction, which will close in June.
