According to the data, in the future of iOS 14 a new functionality will appear, which is part of a new API called Clips. It is noted that Apple can allow users to test “parts” of third-party applications without installing them on their iPhone by scanning a QR code.
The Clips API “enables developers to deliver interactive and dynamic content from their applications, even if they have not been installed.” When you scan a QR code, you can probably interact with parts of the application. You can also choose to download the full version of the application from the App Store. Or, if you already have an app that scans the QR code, open the interactive interface in that app.
This feature is reminiscent of the one presented in Android called Slices, but it works differently. Part of the app is displayed in search results and in Google Assistant or Android Instant Apps, which downloads a small version of the app when you click on the link.
The tested code only mentions integrating the Clip API with QR codes. Therefore, it is unclear whether Apple plans to integrate the new feature into Spotlight, Siri, or other parts of the operating system. iOS 14 will also include iCloud Keychain updates, home screen updates, a new system fitness app, and more.
