The coronavirus turned out to be even more dangerous than previously thought.
The COVID-19 coronavirus penetrates so deep into the lungs that it cannot always be detected using standard test methods. For this reason, even after discharge from the hospital, patients with coronavirus may be carriers of the pathogen. This conclusion was made by scientists in your China, writes the South China Morning Post.
Such a discovery may explain why the coronavirus test may give a second positive result on COVID-19 after the first analysis showed that the person is already healthy. In this case, the test may not show the presence of the disease, but the pathogen remains in the body.
This is the presence of residual virus in the lungs in some patients. Furthermore, coronaviruses were found even in the lungs of a 78-year-old patient who died from the autopsy.
Doctors say that after treatment, a woman passed the COVID-19 tests three times and all were negative. She no longer had any symptoms, but a day before the patient was discharged from the hospital, her heart suddenly stopped.
A post mortem examination revealed that the complete strains of the virus remained deep in the tissue of his lungs.
Chinese scientists even suggested “rinsing” patients’ lungs before discharge. This procedure is called bronchoalveolar lavage and involves the introduction of special fluid into the lungs and bronchi through the mouth with its subsequent extraction. But doctors say such an idea is not realistic, because the procedure is very unpleasant and painful, and there is no guarantee of a 100% result.
We previously wrote that due to the coronavirus, vaccination has stopped worldwide, which can lead to the death of millions of people from other much more dangerous infectious diseases.
