The Goloseevsky District Court in Kiev sentenced two Russians to 7 and 8 years in prison for a series of articles, including an attempt to commit a terrorist act, according to the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
The investigation showed that on April 4, 2019, the convicts, performing the task of the offending country’s special services, attempted to place an explosive device under a parked car of a Ukrainian intelligence officer. However, the explosives detonated at the time of installation.
It was also established that one of the perpetrators of the crime previously served in the personal guard of the head of the Republic of Ingushetia, which is part of the Russian Federation, and also served as deputy head of its administration.
The attackers have been preparing for a crime for months. During the operation, they used fake passports and driver’s licenses of Kyrgyz citizens. They also monitored possible places of residence and routes of movement for the victim, manufactured an explosive device, and purchased firearms and ammunition.
