BYD, a Chinese company, has recently completed an update to its line-up: all cars are now designed in the Dragon Face style, which was developed under the leadership of Wolfgang Egger, a former chief designer of Alfa Romeo and Audi, who created, for example, the beautiful Alfa Romeo 8C coupe. Time to launch an imaging model, which will become the largest and most expensive in the passenger range. The flagship was the BYD Han sedan, and the electric version was the first to be introduced.
This is a really big car, beating the size of the Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class. Length: 4980 mm, width: 1910 mm, height: 1495 mm and wheelbase: 2920 mm. BYD Han has fully diode lighting technology and retractable door handles. The developers are especially proud of the excellent Cx drag coefficient, just 0.233, i.e. almost like the three-wheeled BMW or Mercedes CLA (0.23).
It is based on its own platform with McPherson struts up front and a multi-link rear suspension. Brakes – Brembo Signatures. A selection of wheels with tire sizes 245/50 R18 and 245/45 R19 is offered. The underfloor lithium iron phosphate traction battery is traditionally in-house produced: BYD is one of the world leaders in the manufacture of batteries for household appliances and electric vehicles.
Three versions of the Electric Khan are offered. The basic has an electric motor on the front axle (222 hp, 330 Nm) and a battery with a capacity of 65 kW ∙ h. The mileage claimed with a load is 506 km in the obsolete NEDC cycle, that is, it will actually be about 350 km. The same sedan with a 77 kWh battery must cover 605 km (NEDC).
And at the top of the range is the all-wheel drive version. The front electric motor is the same, but a motor with a 272 hp return is installed on the rear axle. and 350 Nm. The maximum power of the two engines is 494 hp, and the torque is 680 Nm. With a battery capacity of 77 kW Han h, such Han should travel 550 km, and acceleration time to 100 km / h, just 3.9 s. A label with this indicator is even mounted on the boot lid: in such an original way, the BYD company designates the most dynamic top versions of its models.
Inside, the media system has a traditional rotating screen for BYD models: a 15.6-inch touchscreen can be placed horizontally or vertically. The equipment includes seat upholstery in natural nappa leather, power front seats, three-zone climate control, virtual instruments (12.3 inches) and a panoramic roof. The rear passengers have their own touchscreen built into the folding armrest.
And BYD Han also has the quasi-DiPilot autopilot (in fact, an advanced adaptive cruise control with lane hold function), which can then be upgraded to a more advanced version. There is versatile parking, sensors and cameras right now.
BYD Han EV will appear on the Chinese market in June. A little later, the Han DM (dual mode) hybrid will be launched, which, according to preliminary information, will have a two-liter gasoline turbo four with a capacity of 192 hp. and a 245 horsepower electric motor. Also, the hybrid sedan will be noticeably different from the electric outboard design.
