The King of Thailand, Maha Vachiralongkorn Rama X, pardoned 16 convicted Ukrainian citizens, 7 of whom were released in full. This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Lyudmila Denisova.
“In the Kingdom of Thailand, 16 Ukrainians have been pardoned and 7 of them have been completely released from custody,” the statement said.
Then, the King of Thailand completely released 7 people from continuing to serve their sentences, and 9 more, partially pardoned. For seven of them, the sentence was reduced by half, and for two people, by 1/6.
We add that in early April, Denisova asked Thailand to pardon Ukrainians in local jails due to the coronavirus outbreak. She then said that 21 citizens of Ukraine are detained in Thai penal institutions and there is an extremely difficult situation with the observance of quarantine.
