UFC Fight Night Predictions – Robert Whittaker vs. Darren Till: bout card, odds, live stream, start time

UFC Fight Night preview: Robert Whittaker (-135) vs Darren Till (+115)
(2:44)

Fight Island’s final fight card presents an interesting main event for the middleweight division. While champion Israel Adesanya will face Paulo Costa in September, the man he won the title from, Robert Whittaker, is looking to return to the win column.

Whittaker is fighting for the first time since losing the championship to Adesanya last October, a brutal knockout loss in the second round. The loss snapped a nine-fight winning streak for Whittaker, and perhaps most importantly, making Whittaker realize that the demands of the sport had left him suffering from severe exhaustion. Whittaker pulled out of a planned UFC 248 fight with Jared Cannonier and set out to clarify his ideas.

Standing on the other side of the octagon will be a brash Englishman seeking to make a statement in a new weight class at Darren Till. The former welterweight title challenger made his way to a title shot despite problems causing the 170-pound limit. Now back at 185 pounds, Till could be closing on another title shot with a win over the former champion on Saturday after scoring a split decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum in his last appearance.

Prediction

Robert Whittaker vs. Darren Till: The great unknown who enters the fight is where Whittaker is mentally. When he left training, he said that each sacrifice he made was like “another blow” to him and his family. Those sacrifices, unfair as they are, are what brought him to the top of the middleweight division. Till’s offensive production can drop to frustrating lows during fights and a Whittaker at the point would eat that style alive. Choose: Whittaker via TKO4
