Hyper Scape has made its “streaming debut” starting yesterday with an event that has plenty of big streamers that pick up the new battle royale and drop closed beta codes for viewers, similar to what we saw with the launch of Riot’s Valorant, as it seems clear that Ubisoft is trying to emulate the success of that game.
But in reality, Hyper Scape is more like Apex Legends, a fast-paced BR highly focused on mobility, and it’s almost more of a sand shooter than BR most of the time in its cyber reality environment.
Although I haven’t gotten a code yet, I’ve been watching a lot of plays and there’s at least one idea in the game that’s probably the coolest concept I’ve seen in a battle royale in a long time. .
That would be the Echo system.
Originally in Battle Royales, if you were in a squad and died, that was it. He would have to cheer on his surviving team members from the side in spectator mode, either by giving them advice or trolling them.
Apex Legends came up with the idea of ”respawn cards” and points where you could call squad members to the fight. Fortnite quickly stole it.
Call of Duty Warzone went a step further where yes, you can buy back teammates, but you also get a “second chance” in the form of a 1v1 gulag fight.
But now the Echo system in Hyper Space is something totally different from any of those.
When you die in Hyper Space in a squad, you become an Echo. It is as if he were a spectator, but with complete control of his movement rather than being tied up in sight of one of his teammates. What this means is that you are still running with your squad, but you are invisible to enemies. The problem is that you (of course) can’t shoot them, or actually interact with elements on the map.
But you They are An active participant in the game as you can explore where enemies are and ping rival teams or objects on the map using the Apex-type ping system. So while you’re not fighting, at least you’re still playing.
Of course, you’re not trapped like an Echo forever, and I think if your team kills an enemy, they’ll release a one-time comeback for you, which is this game’s version of a new drop. But fundamentally, the idea of essentially being a spy drone for your team when you’re dead is much more entertaining than most of these other games, where despite all these callback features, you’ll often literally be stuck in spectator mode. once your possibilities are exhausted. The insight and map knowledge you can give and get from this system is fantastic, and this is a brilliant idea. You can see it in the following video, where a demo of the Echo system starts halfway.
So does anyone have a spare code?
