U.S.-Mexico Border: See Inside Two Types of Border Facilities for Inconsistent Migrant Minors



The facility and other shelters supervised by the Department of Health and Human Services are equipped to provide medical services, sleeping quarters and other support while case managers work with children in the United States with a sponsor such as a parent or relative.

But amid the Covid-19 barrier, not enough shelter was found to accommodate the growing number, resulting in children staying in border patrol facilities for longer than the legal limit of order૨ hours.

The terms of the Border Patrol facility – where the media is not permitted – can be treated like a prison and not for minors. Earlier this week, after Congress released photos of a Border Patrol overflow facility in Donna, Texas, the administration still released footage and photos of the space.

Here is a comparison of the two types of facilities that children get themselves as the administration is struggling to accommodate them. In some cases, photos of minors have become obscure.
