When bond traders take a day off, equity markets will remain open for business. Both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq will be open for regular hours.

Columbus Day and Veterans Day are two federal holidays when stocks continue to trade.

The break will come at a time when markets have become increasingly volatile ahead of the November 3 presidential election, amid signs that the election results could come sooner than expected. Uncertainty will keep markets on edge from November.
