Two much-loved Carnival Corporation cruise ships find a new home

While many ships sold during the industrial wide closure at the scrapyard were wound up, two ships that had previously sailed under Carnival’s business umbrella received a new life loan.

Meet the ‘New’ ships of The Cruise Line

The ships in question are the MS Amsterdam and the MS Rotterdam, both of which were recently sold by Holland America Line, a division of Carnival. The ships were purchased by Fred. Olsen Cruise Line, where they will sail under the names Bolette en Borealis, respectively.

There’s a bit of sad news that goes hand in hand with this development, like Fred. Olsen will make room for the ships in her fleet by the Black watch en Boudicca out of service. In announcing the news, Peter Deer, Managing Director for the company, also indicated that their ships may soon return to service.

“I am pleased to say that we are now in the final stages of finalizing our back-in-the-water plans, and we are very excited to do so with two new ships” being added to the fleet , he shared. What the two ships are missing is unclear at this point where they will clear up. ‘While we are still awake from a number of options for Black watch en Boudicca, “He said,” what we do know is that they will not sail with us again when we start cruising again.

A special farewell for the outgoing ships

“We know that these ships are much loved by our guests, as they are indeed by us,” he acknowledged. “But it’s time to evolve and look forward to a long and bright future” for the line.

While the line did not go into details about when she would resume sailing, she promised that details would come “soon”. Initiatively, the two new ships will take over the routes previously run by the ships they replace. Bolette will therefore be ported home in Dover, while the Borealis will sail out of Liverpool.

Fred. Olsen will give guests a chance to take one last sail on the departing ships, if only virtually. The ships will be celebrated on the line’s Facebook page, where they will encourage past guests to share photos and memories of their voyages on the now retired ships.

Meanwhile, Holland America Line will continue with a ship named Rotterdam in its fleet. Earlier this summer, they revealed that the is currently under construction Ryndam was renamed to the Rotterdam, making it the seventh ship to sail with that moniker in the history of its fleet.
