Two more cardinal games postponed

55 games in 45 days. That’s what the Cardinals would be up to now if they were to play their full 60-game schedule, as more games have been postponed. And I think it will actually be even fewer days than that.

Thursday’s double-header against the Tigers, who himself was a scapegoat for earlier proposals, has now also been “postponed”:

The Cardinals are otherwise scheduled to play again against the White Sox on Friday, but I would imagine that the only way that would happen is if they do not have new positives * AND * to be able to get on the field this week. to work out together later than Wednesday. I do not know that that is realistic. This could be a situation where the game is moved from Friday to Sunday as part of a doubleheader to give them one more day.

Add to that theory? The game on Saturday was postponed, perhaps to allow one more day of test results before they take the field:

That, again, my judgment is that the Cardinals will not return until Saturday.

… but what about the rest of the season? At that point, you would be talking about 55 games in 44 (!) Days. You would have to give the Cardinals a roster of 35 men to do that themselves remotely and be safe. I just do not see it.

That, as I said yesterday: I think we’ll just watch the Cubs series and the Pirates series cancel flat. So the Cardinals will, for the most part, play a total of 54 games this year, and the Pirates / Cubs will have 57. The division’s position, Wild Cards and playoffs will simply have to be determined by winning percentage. I do not look at this any other way, realistically.
