Two additional SLO County patients die from COVID-19 on Thursday; County-wide death toll reaches 14


San Luis Obispo County health officials reported Thursday that two more county residents died from COVID-19, increasing the number of deaths across the county to 14.

Health officials said both individuals were vulnerable to serious complications from COVID-19 because they were 80 years old, had underlying health problems, and lived in a congregation center that was experiencing an outbreak.

According to local health officials, one of the individuals resided in an assistance center in Atascadero, while the other spent several days in the hospital and was a resident of the Vineyard Hills Health Center in Templeton, which marked sixth place related to COVID. -19. death associated with that facility.

“Our community has been affected by more losses,” said Dr. Penny Borenstein, the San Luis Obispo County health officer. “This and other outbreaks can be prevented. Let’s do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19 to protect the most vulnerable among us.”

The San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department is working with the facilities to lessen the impact of the outbreaks, health officials said.

As of Thursday, local health officials reported 1,740 cases of COVID-19, most of which have been recovered.
