The Cincinnati Bengals hit the practice field in full pads for the first time today as they prepare for the upcoming 2020-21 season.
Some unfortunate news about injuries is that nose tackle Renell Wren (injury to the leg) and receiver AJ Green (hamstring) were not in pads due to the injuries. Green, however, was present at the practice but not in pads and his injury is not believed to be serious.
During Tuesday’s practice, safety Shawn Williams had to be selected from the field after it was revealed that he was adjusting somewhat.
On the other side of the injury news was Tee Higgins from the second round of pickup in pads following his problems with a hamstring injury, although he was kept out of team drills.
Here is a Twitter roundup of the first padded practice of 2020:
Veterinarian Shawn Williams began stepping into position drills, joining NT Renell Wren yesterday.

The Bengals are scheduled to play their first match on September 13th. I would be more than happy if the next route that AJ Green ran on that date was.

First-team defense got the best of the official first-team during the first half of 11-on-11. Joe Burrow started 0 for 3. His two completed passes during 11 on 11 have been to Tyler Boyd.

After a great start Monday, the #Bengals offense had a rough day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. No one opened, a lot of balls on the ground and Joe Burrow and Ryan Finley both threw red zone INTs, both by Carlos Dunlap.

The defense clearly won the day. 11-on-11 ended with a deflected Joe Burrow pass intercepted by Carlos Dunlap. #Bengals

Joe Burow on the offensive line: “Those guys need to be my best friends. To make them happy, so they fight for me.” Added that they are getting some nice Christmas gifts this year.

Zac Taylor on AJ Green: We’ll be very careful with him. Nothing that I’m dealing with right now. He would not participate in scrimmage in any case.
A little tightness in hamstring area. “Nothing I’m right about right now.” #Bengals
