Twitter has been buzzing with speculation since former Ohio Gov. John Kasich told CNN on Sunday that a “prominent” Republican congressman would declare her support for Joe Biden.
Kasich predicted that the unidentified GOP figure could make the announcement Monday.

“Or Hurd as Amash I would advise (both retired),” Twitter reporter Dave Weigel tweeted Sunday night, referring to former Republicans and current Libertarian Congressman Justin Amash and rep. Will Hurd, R-Texas.

Amash quickly dismissed that idea, and responded to Weigel, “It’s not me” and added that he did not believe it would be Hurd either. Amash said he intends to vote for his party’s candidate, Jo Jorgensen.
CNie’s Jamie Gangel later tweeted that Kasich told her that the individual he had in mind was a former Republican member of Congress.
By Monday morning, subsequent speculation led to former House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, taking to Twitter along with fellow former speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., And former Senator Jeff Flake, R-Ariz.

Kasich, who was one of the final Republicans in the primary race of GOP 2016 along with Trump and sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has been a fierce critic of the president and will speak at this week’s Democratic convention, which begins Monday night.
