If you were watching the Boston Red Sox opening game against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night, you may have noticed something strange about Nathan Eovaldi.
No, it wasn’t his first pitch that hit 100 mph. Although that was nice to see.
Eovaldi took the mound wearing his usual number 17, but when he returned at the top of the third something was missing. The right-hander seemed to have lost the one on his shirt, becoming number 7, which is worn by Christian Vázquez.

And, as expected, Twitter had a lot of reactions.
He was throwing so hard that 1 fell.

Nathan Eovaldi shows so much disrespect for the NFL’s shirt swapping policy that he’s doing it midway through the game.

Eovaldi’s full number returned an entry later. But why the missing in the first place remains a mystery. For now, anyway.
