Twitter marked a tweet by President Donald Trump for “misleading claims” in a tweet that alleged presidential elections are not “COVID sanitized” and are fraught with security concerns.
The tweets are part of the president’s regular weekend Tweetstorm for Sunday morning. In his remarks, Trump said that ballot boxes are a ‘voter security disaster’ and a ‘major fraud’, claiming that ‘it is possible for a person to vote multiple times’ and that they do not ‘sanitize Covid’.
“We are posting a public interest message on this Tweet for violating our civic integration policies to create misleading health requirements that could potentially mislead people from participating in the vote,” he said. the official security account of the social media platform was tweeted on Sunday afternoon.
Twitter said the tweet remains on the service because of “its importance to public conversation.” However, the tweet will be hidden behind a public message warning users of its alleged misleading claims and their engagements will be restricted.
In recent months, Twitter has highlighted several of President Trump’s tweets proving that he has violated his terms of service. Trump has complained that he is being censored and signed an executive order calling for “new regulation” on social media services, although they apparently have yet to take shape.
