Tuesday’s storms can cause flooding at higher elevations in Wyoming

CASPER, Wyo. – The National Weather Service in Riverton has released a dangerous weather outlook for western and central Wyoming.

“This afternoon there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms along the western mountain ranges,” the NWS in Riverton said Monday. “Numerous showers and thunderstorms will affect all of western and central Wyoming on Tuesday, with possible localized flooding at higher elevations.”

Isolated showers and thunderstorms can affect the Casper area on Monday night. Showers and thunderstorms are also possible Tuesday through Thursday, according to the NWS in Riverton’s forecast.

The NWS in Riverton’s seven-day forecast for the Casper area is as follows:

This afternoon Sunny, with a high near 91. East northeast wind 5 to 7 mph.

Tonight Isolated showers and thunderstorms before 10pm, then isolated showers between 10pm and 1am. Mostly clear, with a low around 57. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. The probability of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3pm. High near 86. Light and variable wind becoming south southeast 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds can blow up to 20 mph. The probability of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday night Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1am, then a slight chance of showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 58. Southwest wind between 7 and 10 mph. The probability of precipitation is 70%.

Wednesday A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Blustery, with a southwest wind 7 to 15 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds can blow up to 23 mph. The probability of precipitation is 50%.

Wednesday night A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm, then a chance of showers between 10pm and 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 53. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 7 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. The probability of precipitation is 50%.

Thursday A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. West wind 7 to 11 mph becoming north northeast in the afternoon.

Thursday night A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 51.
