The first night of the Democratic National Convention – with speeches by Andrew Cuomo, Michelle Obama and others – saw several instances of irony, faux compassion and shameless double standards, Tucker Carlson said Tuesday night.
Cuomo, the Democratic governor of New York, received a prominent speech on Monday night’s opening night, using it to rave about what he called his successes in fighting the coronavirus, Carlson said of “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
“The earliest moment of the night was Andrew Cuomo’s speech; Cuomo is the brother of CNN’s weightlifting correspondent. His father returned the DNC keynote in 1984. There was never any question that Andrew Cuomo was at this congress of this year would speak, ”Carlson explained.

“It is possible that no leader on earth has abused the coronavirus outbreak as deeply as Andrew Cuomo. A man of integrity would have been fired immediately,” he said.

Michelle Obama ‘still a victim’
Carlson said the first night’s keynote speaker, Michelle Obama, was another unbelievable spectacle.
He pointed to the fawning coverage the media gave the former lady’s speech after the fact, noting that the First Amendment now apparently has two limitations: “No screaming ‘fire’ in a full theater – and no criticism of Michelle Obama. “
“Last night, she delivered a carpet address of her $ 11 million estate at Martha’s Vineyard. Michelle Obama, to be honest, did well for herself. He disagreed with Obama’s claim that “a never ending list of innocent people will continue to be murdered” in the US, and replied that in fact there are about eight unarmed African Americans killed by law enforcement.

Carlson added that one of the most out-of-touch moments during Monday’s conference session came from Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser:
“The city of Bowser is falling apart at the moment, literally. Have you been there? For centuries, Washington, DC, has been a beautiful place. You may remember it from your sixth-grade trip. Parks and trees and open spaces. “A city that the country was proud of. Now its open spaces are covered with tents and inside, drug-addicted vagrants live and they come out periodically to scare and harass visitors and locals,” Carlson said.

He played a clip of Bowser standing on a balcony overlooking what was once 16th Street NW, now monikered “Black Lives Matter Plaza”, and told the audience via video that “we can not just say these words – we have to these words live on. “
Carlson asked out loud if that painted slogan, written large on the street near the White House, was any consolation to Washingtonians or Americans who have seen their businesses shattered by mandates to close gubernatories, or those workers who are waiting for it. “At least you can sleep in your car, knowing that far away in a city run by corrupt bureaucrats, a street has now painted a fashionable political slogan. That is the message not only of Muriel Bowser, but of the Democratic Party.”
