“On a rare day away after a few drinks by the pool, I accepted an invitation to an off-the-record dinner with four reporters and a colleague from the White House, and at that dinner I said some things I did not do. that means and I should never say that, “Westerhout explained.
“And I deeply regret that, but I take full responsibility for my actions that evening,” she said, “and I really regret hurting people I make very, very happy.”

In her new book, “Off the Record: My Dream Job at the White House, How I Lost It, and What I Learn,” coming out Tuesday, Westerhout said she decided to “be completely honest,” a page from ” the president she says hardly any people have ever seen and some surprising personal details.
“I did not vote for President Trump in 2016,” the former Republican National Committee staffer acknowledged.
“I absolutely did not vote for Hillary Clinton,” she added, “but, in 2016, you know, I had never met the president and everything I knew about him was based on what the mainstream media told me, and it was not until I taught him and his character knew that I realized how wrong I had been. “
Westerhout, who served as gatekeeper for the president with her office outside the Oval Office, now describes the president as “a very friendly and generous man”, a “great leader and stimulating boss,” adding “I can not wait to to cast my vote for him on November 3. “

“Until then, there will be no greater supporter of President Trump than me,” Westerhout said.
One thing she said was “going wrong” about Trump in the mainstream media is “his deep admiration and respect for women.”
“He promotes women. He surrounds himself with strong, intelligent women. He’s married to one. He’s raised two of them,” she said, referring to Ivanka and Tiffany. “Every interaction I’ve seen and had with him has just shown … how much President Trump respects women.”
According to Politico, Westerhout shared intimate details about the president’s family – including about daughters Ivanka and Tiffany – during the dinner with reporters.
Days after the fire, Trump tweeted that he “forgave” Westerhout, calling her “a very good person”, adding “I love Tiffany, do great!”
Westerhout shared with Doocy that she has learned a lot and has taken time to reflect on how she has treated people.

“One of the things I get the most out of this experience is that there will be bumps along the road. That is inevitable. We are all human,” she said. “I made a mistake and I decided that I would not define that one night, one mistake, me.”
She says she wrote the book “to get the truth out and show the American people the president I know and love.”
