US President Donald Trump has said his younger brother is having a “difficult time” when he was treated in a New York City hospital.
Mr. Trump wore a face mask when he arrived at New York Presbyterian Hospital on Friday afternoon, and stayed for about 45 minutes.
U.S. media reports say Robert Trump, 72, is seriously ill, but it is not clear why he was admitted to the facility.
He once managed the investments in real estate owned by Trump.
“I hope he is well,” the president told reporters on the way to the hospital. “He’s having a hard time. He’s having a hard time.”
After the hospital visit, Mr. Trump, 74, flew to his golf club in nearby Bedminster, New Jersey, for the weekend.
He also told reporters: “I have a wonderful brother. We have had a long relationship.
“From day one. Long time. And he’s in the hospital right now. Hopefully he’s fine, but he’s having a hard time.”
Robert recently went to court in a failed bid to stop the publication of his uncle Mary Trump’s tell-tale book about the president, How My Family Created the Most Dangerous Man.

According to the New York Post, Robert spent more than a week in the intensive care unit of Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan in June.
“Yes, he was taken to the hospital,” White House spokesman Judd Deere said earlier in the day, confirming the hospital visit without specifying Robert’s condition.
