Trump turned to McConnell to call Biden president-elect

Trump shared a news report about McConnell’s remarks in a tweet posted shortly after midnight. In the accompanying message, He wrote: “Mitch, 75,000,000 watts, the record of the sitting president (by lots). Defeated too soon. The Republican Party must finally learn to fight. People are angry!”

McConnell met with Trump on Tuesday at the G.O.P. The call with senators further warned against breaking up and objecting to the results of the presidential election, when they would be presented to the joint session of Congress for certification early next year.

A McConnell spokesman did not immediately return an email seeking comment on Trump’s remarks.

In recent weeks, as the president has undergone his fire training on Republican governors and other local officials, he has seen inadequate support for his baseless claims of widespread voter fraud and sporadic legal bidding to overturn election results.

But his tweet on Wednesday marked the first time that Trump had publicly turned to his party’s most senior and Washington legislator to recognize Biden as president-elect. McConnell has been reluctant to do so since the race for Biden was officially called early last month, instead avoiding Trump’s ongoing efforts to counter the election results.

Monday’s Electoral Rally College Ledge vote was also a hot topic for many other Senate Republicans who have so far refused to accept the fact that Trump has lost his campaign for a second term.

“I understand that there are people who feel strongly about the outcome of this election,” Senate Majority Whip John Thun (RSD), McConnell’s top deputy, told Politico. “But in the end, sometimes you have to deal with music. And I think once the Elect Oral Ralph College Ledge resolves this issue today, it’s time for everyone to move on. ”
