President Trump said Monday that his campaign has “limited” the location for which he will deliver his speech for presidential nomination at two locations – the Gettysburg Battlefield in Pennsylvania and the White House.
“We have limited the acceptance speech of the presidential nominee, to deliver on the last night of the convention (Thursday), to two locations – The Great Battlefield of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and the White House, Washington, DC. We will announce the decision soon! ”Trump tweeted Monday.
The president’s tweet comes after Fox News reported last week that his campaign was considering the possibility of delivering him from his convention-acceptance speech on the White House’s South Lawn.
A source familiar with the talks told Fox News last week that that was just one of several options the campaign is considering, but told Fox News nothing has been finalized.
White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany was asked Monday about the two locations, but said she “will not get the president ahead.”
“The president has done a lot to bring this country together,” she said when asked what a speech at Gettysburg might represent. “We have faced unusual challenges and he has worked to ensure that Americans are best equipped to rise above the challenges we face.”

The discussions come as the details of the convention remain in flux, and as the campaign and the Republican National Committee continue to adjust their plans amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Last month, the Trump campaign and the RNC scaled down the convention dramatically by canceling planned festive events in Jacksonville, Fla., Amid a rise in cases in the state, and refocused their attention on convention companies back in the original convention site of Charlotte, NC
The source told Fox News that there has been a lot of “talk”, and that the location of the White House is just one option out of several that they are considering, emphasizing that a final decision has not yet been made.
Meanwhile, the RNC said last month “a few hundred delegates” will be in Charlotte, NC, on Monday, Aug. 24 for convention business, which will include the presidential formal nomination.

As Fox News reported in June, the delegates meeting in Charlotte will not vote for a 2020 party or even re-adopt the 2016 platform. Since there will be no meeting of a platform committee, the 2016 platform will remain applicable.
The Democrats have also dramatically downscale their convention.
The Democratic National Convention, which was postponed a month ago and is scheduled to begin on August 17, is still being held in Milwaukee.
