Trump says Bahrain will normalize relations with Israel

President Trump announced on Friday that the Middle East will establish full diplomatic relations with Israel, following the Middle East dynamics that have brought Arab nations closer to Israel, isolated the Palestinians, and positioned Mr. Trump as a campaigner. Season peace maker.

Mr Trump announced the news on Twitter in a joint statement with Bahrain and Israel, calling the move “a historic step forward for more peace in the Middle East.”

Israel and the UAE announced last month that they would normalize relations with each other, provided that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not follow plans to annex parts of the West Bank. Trump administration officials said they hoped the agreement would encourage other Arab countries with historically hostile relations to Israel to take similar action.

Bahrain, a small island kingdom off the east coast of Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf, is of strategic importance to Washington as the host of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet.

A large part of the agreement was broken by Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who led the administration’s efforts to strike a peace deal between the people of Israel and Palestine. The project has largely stalled since analysts denounced the Palestinians as unacceptable, as the peace plan was heavily denounced in favor of Israel in January by the administration.

Since then, Mr. Kushner and other Trump officials have also turned their power towards Israel’s relations with other Arab countries as a means to show the Palestinians that their demands can now negate the wider dynamics of the region.
