Trump said he had requested 10K National Guard troops in the Capitol on the day of the storm.

Former President Trump told Fox News late Sunday night that he had expressed concern about the size of the crowd near the Capitol before last month’s deadly storms and called for the deployment of 10,000 National Guard troops in response.

Trump told “The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton” that his team had warned the Department of Defense before the rally that the crowd might be larger than expected and that 10,000 national guards should be ready to be deployed. He said that – from what he understands – he had warned Capitol leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – and he had heard that the request had been rejected because the Capitol did not like the optics of 10,000 soldiers.

“So, you know it was a big mistake.”

Pelosi’s office fees and the Department of Defense did not immediately respond to Fox News’ email inquiries. Trump told the show’s host, Steve Hilton, that he “hated” seeing what opened on January 6 at US Capital.

Much of the rioting in the capital remained a mystery.

Last week, former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sunde told a bipartisan Senate panel that he was unaware that his officers had received a report from the FBI’s field office in Norfolk, Virginia, predicting, in detail, the possibility that extremists could bring another day to Washington. “War”.

The head of the FBI in Washington, D.C., said that once he received the Jan. 5 warning, information was passed on to other law enforcement agencies by the Joint Terrorism Task Force as soon as possible.

Even Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving of Sund and House could not agree when the National Guard’s help was requested.

Sunde said he submitted the request at 1:09 p.m., in January. But Irving insisted he would not receive a request for support from the National Guard until 2 p.m., when former Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stanger was in charge. When pressed, Irving said he first picked up Sund’s phone when he was on the congressional floor.

When the National Guard was called and requests for a guard were already beautiful and Irving disagreed. Sunde said he had spoken to both Stanger and Irving about requesting the National Guard in the days leading up to the storm, and Irving said they were concerned about the “optics” of being present. Irving denied it, saying Sund’s account was “clearly wrong.”

Sen. Lindsay Graham, RSC, told Fox News earlier this month that she was in favor of a 9/11-style commission to investigate key details that contributed to last month’s deadly riots at the Capitol.

Republicans have indicated that evidence could show that Democrat leaders were aware of the threat and did little to stop the Jan. 6 attack.

Pelosi said the commission “will investigate and report on the relevant facts and reasons related to the January 6, 2021, domestic terrorist attack on the United States Capital Complex and the interference in the peaceful transfer of power.”

Trump told Hilton that, contrary to reports circulating, he was not seeing the riots in real time and that subsequent events began later when he heard about the chaos.

Trump said he hates watching riots but has compared them to unrest in cities like Portland and Seattle.

“I hate to see any of them, but that’s a double standard,” he said.
