Trump aides declined to specify which states the announcements would target, but there are several key battlegrounds at the forefront of the early voting schedule. Voting in person or by mail will begin in Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania in late September.
The commercials will also be backed by a national cable and broadcast ad purchase, Trump aides said.
The move comes at a crucial time for the president, who is following Biden on the electoral map.
Stepien has been conducting a broader review of the campaign’s operation, including its budget and hiring. There has been a focus on buying TV, which comprises a substantial part of the total spending of any presidential campaign.
“Everything in the campaign must be goal and objective oriented, which applies to the political operation, the communications operation and, most importantly, the purchase of ads,” Stepien said in an interview on Thursday. “It would be bad practice if we didn’t re-examine that we are spending money in the right places on the right message.”
“We are making the decision to use the right data to make the right spending and political decisions through our advertising,” he added.
The reelection effort has spent nearly $ 94 million on television ads so far this year and has another $ 146 million set aside until Election Day, according to Advertising Analytics.
The new commercials are expected to echo familiar themes, introducing Biden as a connoisseur of Washington who is indebted to the liberals.
