The diagnosis is the most serious known health threat to the American president in decades. At 74 years old and obese, Trump falls into the highest risk category for serious complications from the disease, which has affected more than 200,000 Americans and more than 1 million people worldwide.
His infection with the disease could prove volatile in an already tumultuous political climate, and news of Trump’s infection has sent stock market futures into disarray.
“Tonight, @ Floats and I tested positive for Covid-19. We’ll start our quarantine and recovery process right away. We’ll get this together!” Trump tweeted shortly after 1 a.m. Friday.
Later, the first lady wrote on Twitter that she and her husband “feel good.”
Trump last returned to the White House on Thursday afternoon after a public fundraising trip to New Jersey. He did not appear to be ill, although he did not speak to reporters as he approached his residence.
In a memo to reporters around 1 a.m. ET, the president’s physician, Navy CMDR. Dr. Sean Conley wrote that he received confirmation of positive tests on Thursday evening.
“Both the president and the first lady are doing well at the moment, and they plan to stay at home inside the White House during their health,” Klein wrote.
“The White House medical team and I will maintain a vigilant watch, and I appreciate the support provided by some of our country’s greatest medical professionals and organizations,” Connell wrote without elaborating on what assistance has been provided to the White House.
“Make sure that I expect the President to continue to perform his duties without interruption while receiving the restoration, and I will keep you updated for any further developments.”
The president said late Thursday night that he planned to isolate his close aide Hope Hicks after he tested positive for the infection, following a prophylactic behavior. Early at night, he spread a steady growth of the virus.
“The end of the epidemic is in sight,” he said during a pre-order comment at the annual Al Smith Dinner, which is held virtually due to the health crisis.
Ignore science
While the White House frequently condenses its extensive testing methods for the president and those close to him – aides consider him “the nation’s most tested man” – the infection minimizes the disadvantages of relying on tests alone. Prevent infection.

Trump has also repeatedly insisted that the country is “rounding the corner” about the disease and has claimed that the virus will “disappear”, although health experts in his own administration have also said that these claims do not reflect reality.
Infection with the coronavirus itself will do little to further its claim that the disease is declining, and will reduce pressure on states to reopen schools and businesses. Trump has complained about democratic governors during the recent Rio Leo who have maintained a strict lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus.
Risk class
Trump has clearly ignored the medical recommendations of his own coronavirus task force during the epidemic, moving forward with a busy schedule of packed campaign rallies. More recently, his supporters have been beset by events in Minnesota and Pennsylvania.
Those events are suspended for now as the President stays at the White House. Long-cautious about his medical history, the president’s most recent physique shows that he weighs 243 pounds – considered obese for his height. However, Conley said he is in “very good health” reading the exam.

Hicks has traveled extensively with the president several times recently, including in Cleveland on Tuesday, and was seen on Marine One with close presidential aides Jared Kushner, Dan Scavino and Nicolas Luna – none of whom were seen on Wednesday. Wearing a mask, Trump was heading to a campaign rally in Minnesota.
Trump speculated in his Fox News interview that Hicks could be infected with the virus from conversations with supporters.

A source close to Hicks told CNN she is experiencing symptoms and is back in Washington Washington. A source familiar with Hicks’ symptoms described her feeling miserable and very bad. CNN Hicks has been reached for comment.
Asked about the level of contact between Hicks and Trump, White House spokesman Judd Deere said, “The president takes the health and safety of himself and everyone who works in support of him and the American people very seriously.”
The White House made no mention of Hicks by name, nor did it confirm that he had tested positive.
