Amid renewed criticism of his COVID-19 response and fresh controversy over his decision to recruit federal forces in Democrat-led cities, President Trump resurrected his story on a 2018 cognitive test on Wednesday night that he insists in that he got a “perfect mark”, now claiming he also got “extra points” for a particularly impressive feat.
The feat? Repeat the words “person, woman, man, camera, TV” in the correct order.
In recent weeks, the president has repeatedly asked former vice president Joe Biden to take the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, while bragging that he has left doctors “very surprised” that he has scored perfectly on the test. Fox News presenter Chris Wallace, however, pointed out to Trump that the test isn’t really difficult, as it is meant to assess cognitive decline.
“They have a photo and it says ‘what’s that’ and it’s an elephant,” Wallace told Trump on Sunday. At the time, Trump insisted that other questions were much more difficult and Wallace “was unable to answer many of the questions” while claiming that he personally “answered all 35 questions correctly.”
During an interview Wednesday with Fox News medical collaborator Dr. Marc Siegel, Trump was once again obsessed with how well he did on the MoCA, a 30-point assessment that is administered over 10 minutes.
Saying that he took his cognitive test “probably a year or less ago than a year ago,” he went on to say that he asked former White House doctor Dr. Ronny Jackson if there was some sort of “acuity test” that could take, which happened in early 2018.
“He said it actually exists, and he named it, whatever it is,” Trump said. “And there were 30 or 35 questions: the first questions are very easy and the last ones are much more difficult. Like a memory question.
Describing the memory part of the test, Trump said he was asked to repeat the words “person, woman, man, camera, television,” which prompted him to act everything.
“And then, 10 minutes, 15 minutes later, do you remember the first question, not the first but the tenth? Give us that again, ”said Trump, playing the administrative doctor. “And you go ‘person, woman, man, camera, television’. If you order it, you get extra points!”
Trump claimed that doctors told him that “no one is in order” and, while it is not easy, “it was easy” for him. Adding that doctors then “come back” to that question “20-25 minutes later,” Trump repeated the phrase before insisting that this left the doctors stunned.
“They say, ‘That’s amazing. How did you do that? “Trump stated.” I do it because I have, like, a good memory. Because I’m cognitively there. “
Reiterating that Biden should take the exam, Trump went on to claim that the “perfect grade” he received on the exam caused questions about his mental state to rest.
“It is not that easy, but as soon as my score and test were announced, all of this disappeared from me,” he proclaimed. Remember, they were talking about the 25th Amendment and nonsense. They said, wow. Even the enemies no longer say that. But they say it about Joe Biden.
However, recent polls show that Americans believe Biden’s cognitive abilities match or exceed those of the president. A Fox News poll reveals that 47 percent believe Biden has the mental strength to be president, compared to 43 percent who believe Trump does.
