Trump news live: Latest updates of elections in 2020 as senior Republicans bid hours back before RNC begins

Democrats serve Republican convention week

While all eyes will be on the Republican National Convention in North Carolina this week, the Biden campaign and Democrats will be on the attack.

Committed to a number of initiatives and announcements, the Biden campaign will appeal to Republican and undecided voters in the fourth-day convention headed by Donald Trump.

In one attacking ad posted on Twitter on Monday, the party shared a video labeling the Republican National Convention as the “Republican National Chaos.”

The 30-second clip goes on to claim that “Trump has no plan” when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic, which has now killed more than 180,000 Americans.

Mr. Biden has in comparison made his bid for president as someone who will be able to gain control of the pandemic in the United States.

Earlier on Monday, 27 former members of Congress participated in a “Republicans for Prayers” initiative to encourage Republican support for Democrats.

The Biden campaign, which organized the joint action, said Republicans had signed up because of President Trump’s “corruption, destruction of democracy, blatant contempt for moral decency and urgent need to get the country on track.”
