Trump will visit the Charlotte convention site on Monday during a visit to North Carolina, a Republican close to the Trump campaign told POLITICO on Friday, ahead of the planned kickoff of the event that evening. More than 300 Republican delegates and party officials are still planning to meet in their host city for a personal vote and procedural business, after Trump earlier scrapped plans to speak in the city about the state’s social distancing rights.
The Democratic National Committee announced in July that its planned Milwaukee Convention would go all-virtual instead if outbreaks of coronavirus cases were rampant across the country. Delegates’ roll call vote played in a series of free-to-air videos recorded in all 57 states and territories, with Biden accepting his party’s nomination from his home state of Delaware.
Most Republican programming will take place in and around the Washington, DC area – mostly on federal property. Trump has said he will deliver his nomination speech from the White Garden Rose Garden next week, while Vice President Mike Pence is expected to speak at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Md.
Lara Trump stepped in on her father-in-law’s attacks in a Saturday interview with NBC’s “Weekend Today,” endorsing the Democrats’ convention as a “dark, dark and truly depressing vision of America.”
“We will be hopeful and inspiring and patriotic,” said the campaign’s senior adviser to Trump, adding that the president will play a part in every night of the Republican convention.
Trump’s tweet barrier continued with false claims that the Democratic Party dropped the sentence “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance during its four nights of national conventional programming.
He also claimed that cities with Democrats could be “rampant with crime” in suburban areas, repeating a fear-based allusion in an attempt to subvert female voters, a key election bloc turned down in the president’s recent interview .
Why would Suburban Women vote for Biden and the Democrats if Democrats run cities are now rife with crime (and they do not ask the federal government for help), which can easily spread to the suburbs, and they will be on steroids, plan for low income! Trump wrote.
Trump also reiterated protests in Portland, Ore., Which have continued in the city since George Floyd’s death in May, saying he is waiting to be asked by the state governor to crush the unrest.

Trump then traveled by motorcade to his golf resort in Sterling, Va., And arrived there at 10 a.m., according to swimming pool reports.
