Trump gets distinction from the NYPD union

BEDMINSTER, NJ – Seeking to strengthen his law and order message, President Donald Trump on Friday told hundreds of New York police officers that “no one will be safe in Biden’s America” as the former Democratic vice president told him reported in November.

“This man has eroded your dignity and your respect,” Trump told former Vice President Joe Biden. “And I’m telling you on Nov. 3 that you’ll get it back.”

Trump spoke with members of the New York Police Benevolent Association, the union that represents 24,000 representatives of rank-and-file, when he said his attacks on Biden and his running mate, sen. Kamala Harris, resigned. The president’s campaign casts doubt on the ability of the Biden-Harris ticket to maintain peace in the nation’s largest metropolises. Trump was formally endorsed by the union during the event at his golf course in New Jersey.

Trump ripped a page from the playbook for law and order of Richard Nixon’s 1968 campaign – when American streets were full of racist protests and Nixon’s campaign promise to break order and restore order in a profession tailored to white voters.

At a time when the nation has been plagued by sometimes violent protests over police brutality, Trump has repeatedly accused major mayors in Democratic strongholds – including New York, Portland, Seattle, Chicago – of undermining police officers.

“In New York, you have the best of New York, but they have completely diminished their incentive,” Trump said earlier this week. “They have lost their lives, in a sense, because they are not allowed to do their job.”

In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly and falsely claimed that Biden is supporting the defense of the police. His campaign has shown advertisements in the field states that a woman calls a police officer for help when an intruder breaks into her house and gets a voice recording informing her that because the police have been fired, no one is available to call her to take.

Trump has also tweeted warnings to “Suburban Housewives” that Biden will crush its communities by forcing communities to build lower-income homes as part of new development. Trump recently enacted a regulation for housing during the Obama era, designed to eliminate racial disputes in the suburbs.

In his speech, the president also sharply targeted Harris, a former California attorney general, as hostile to police, suggesting that she and Biden were at the center of a ‘left-wing war against police officers’.

“She’s probably a step down, Kamala,” Trump said.
