The President asked Wallace questions about a new name for Fort Bragg. “Are we going to name him after the Rev. Al Sharpton?” Trump asked. “What are you going to call it, Chris?”
The pending defense policy bill was not the only measure Trump threatened to veto during Fox’s broad and combative interview. He also said he would consider rejecting any new coronavirus stimulus bill without provision for a tax cut on the payroll, which he has repeated promoting despite little support from Congress.
“I want to see it. I want to see it,” Trump said of the payroll tax cut, adding that if it were not included in a new coronavirus relief bill, “I would consider not signing it.”
Trump also spent part of the interview lying with Joe Biden, incorrectly claiming that his Democratic rival wanted to vanish and abolish the police and attack his mental state.
“Joe doesn’t know he’s alive, okay?” the president said, claiming he could also beat Biden on a mental fitness test.
Wallace replied, “I also took the exam. It is not the most difficult test. “
Accusing Wallace of misrepresenting the test, Trump told Wallace: “I bet you couldn’t even answer the last five questions.”
