The Trump campaign claimed Thursday that Joe Biden’s “handlers” could try to get out of the general election debate with President Trump, after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested that the Democratic nominee from all three should return.
“Joe Biden has had enough of the Democrats’ eleven primary debates, but he still gets a lot of advice from Nancy Pelosi and others who want him to build on meetings with President Trump completely,” said Trump communications director Tim Murtaugh in a statement. to Fox News.

Murtaugh claimed that Biden had “fiercely opposed” even one debate before some Americans started voting.

Pelosi turned her head on Thursday when she urged Biden to cancel all debates with the president because Trump would “disrespect” the forum and keep “guilt” going.
“I do not think there should be debates,” Pelosi said out of the blue at a news conference in the Capitol, saying they do not want the debates to be “an exercise in guilt.”
“I would not legitimize a conversation with him, nor a debate over the presidency of the United States,” she said. “Well, I know the Biden campaign is thinking about this in a different way.”
Biden told MSNBC on Thursday that he intends to move forward with the high-profile faceoffs with the president.

The idea of leaving debates all together made headlines after a New York Times op-ed earlier this August argued that presidential debates should be “scrapped”, with critics suggesting it was the media’s latest attempt to prevent Biden from Trump to debate.
Presidential debates are scheduled for September 29, October 15 and October 22.
