President Trump announced the agreement from his briefing in the White House as he tried to mark progress on a fax machine. He said he also met earlier in the day with the leaders of the Initiative Warp Speed ​​initiative to develop a vaccine.

Some Democrats and public health experts have expressed concern about Trump putting pressure on the FDA to approve a vaccine too soon, although the FDA has promised that it will follow the data.
