TD14 is in the Caribbean about 155 miles east of the Nicaragua-Honduras border and is moving west at about 18 mph. The motion to the west is expected to continue through the night. Friday it should turn west-northwest toward the Yucatan and slower.
This tropical depression has become better organized with winds near 35 mph and it could become a tropical storm overnight. Implications in Texas could occur so quickly Monday and continue through at least Wednesday of new week.
Tropical depression 13
Meanwhile, the long-term future of Tropical Depression 13 is very unpredictable at the moment, and we have plenty of time to look into it. If it ever affected Texas, it probably would not be until the end of new week.
Tropical Depression 13 is projected to become at least a Category 1 hurricane by the time it reaches the Bahamas, according to the National Hurricane Center. Tropical Storm Watches are in operation for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands among other Caribbean islands.
We are entering the peak season in the hurricane and all indications are that the already record-breaking season could become even busier in the coming weeks. Officially, the Atlantic hurricane season lasts through the end of November.
