Trevor Daniel’s blockbuster ‘Falling’ climbs to No. 1 on Pop’s playlist

The song achieves a feat last won by 50 Cent with “In Da Club”.

Trevor Daniel’s debut hit “Falling” climbs to number 1 on Billboard‘Pop Songs radio airplay chart’ (dated July 25).

The single was released on Alamo / Interscope Records. The Pop song list, which was released in October 1992, measures the total weekly plays, as tabulated by Nielsen Music / MRC Data, among its reporting panel of more than 160 major stations.

“Falling” peaks at No. 1 on Pop Songs in its 28th week on the chart, which dates from its debut on January 18. Complete the second longest trip to the top, after Benny Blanco, Halsey and Khalid’s “Eastside” reached the top in their 31st week in the ranking dated March 2, 2019.

Another fun fact from “Falling”: the song is the first solo pop song # 1 on Interscope by a soloist and there are no accompanying artists since 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” ruled for four weeks in April 2003. However, in between, the label racked up another 44 overall No. 1s, including at least one in each year since 2009, the longest active streak for any label. Before “Falling,” Interscope last directed through Maroon 5’s “Memories,” for a week in February.

As “Falling” tops the pop songs, Daniel’s follow-up single “Past Life,” with Selena Gomez, climbs 23-20 in its third week on the chart.

All charts will be updated tomorrow (July 21) on Billboard.com.
