Dallas County has not yet released its coronavirus data for Saturday. Meanwhile, cases continue to rise in Taranto County, officials released a one-day record on Saturday.
On Friday, Dallas County reported 1,269 positive coronavirus cases – one of the county’s highest daily averages since its fatal peak in July.
As of Friday, the county had 100,628 confirmed cases and 8,003 probable cases reported. It reported 1,127 confirmed COVID-19 deaths and 18 potential deaths.
While other North Texas counties provide health estimates of how many people have been infected with the virus, Dallas County officials do not report recovery, saying there are no criteria used by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Health officials use hospital admissions, intensive care admissions and emergency room visits as key metrics to detect the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the county. In the 24-hour period that ended Thursday, 478 COVID-19 patients were under intensive care at county hospitals. During the same period, 457 ER visits were for symptoms of the disease.
18-24 Oct., the county’s provisional seven-day average of 73,733 was the daily new confirmed and probable cases for the most recent reporting period. According to the county, the figure is calculated by the date of the COVID-19 test collection.
Dallas County does not provide a positive rate for all COVID-19 tests conducted in the area; County health officials said they do not have an accurate count of how many tests are performed each day. But according to the county’s most recent reporting period, 15.4% of people who appeared in hospitals with COVID-19 symptoms tested positive for the virus. This is an increase compared to the previous reporting period, when 14.0% of such patients tested positive.
Statewide data
The Texas State Health Services Department reported 7,677 more coronavirus cases and 111 more COVID-19 deaths Saturday.
Texas hospitals have 6,068 COVID-19 patients, including 1,559 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The seven-day average positivity rate across the state was 11.3% as of Friday, based on the date of collection of the test sample. State health officials said using data based on when people were tested provided the most accurate positivity rate.
The state also provides a positive rate based on when the laboratory results were reported; As of Friday, the rate was 11.5%.
Officials previously calculated Texas’ coronavirus positivity rate by dividing the latest seven-day positive test results by the most recent seven days of new test results. According to the state dashboard, with that move, the positivity rate is now 10%.
A spokesman for the Texas State Health Services Department said positivity rate data would be released in phases based on lab results and new cases, but was still being provided for the purpose of transparency and consistency.
Tarant County
Trent County reported 1,062 coronavirus cases and three new deaths Saturday.
According to Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The case is the highest in the county for a single day. More than 1,400 cases were reported in the county on Aug. 16, but the Texas State Health Services Department covers the matter.
County officials have not released any information about the latest casualties.
The newly registered cases bring the county to a total of 73,180, including 65,426 confirmed cases, 7,754 potential cases and 56,715 retrieval. The death toll is 760.
As of Saturday’s count on the county dashboard, 535 people have been hospitalized with the virus.
Colin County
Colin County added 109 coronavirus cases on Saturday, bringing the total to 19,810. The county also reported three new deaths, rising to 199.
There are 1,545 active cases of the virus in the county – 195 people have been hospitalized according to the county dashboard – and 18,265 recoveries have been reported.
Colin County, which receives its data from the state health services department turning to case management in June, has a note on its dashboard warning residents that it has little confidence in the number the state is providing.
Denton County
There are 58 coronavirus cases reported in Denton County – 36 of which are active – and no new deaths were reported Saturday.
The newly registered cases bring the county to a total of 18,114, of which, 3311 are active and 145,64545 are recoveries. The death toll is 138.
The newly registered cases increased the county’s total molecular cases to 15,777, while antigen cases to 2,337.
According to county data, a drop of 29 from Friday – here 63 Kovid-19 patients are hospitalized.
Other counties
The Texas State Health Services Department has handled the report for these other North Texas counties. In some counties, new data is not reported every day.
The latest numbers are:
- Rokvall County: 2,106 cases, 34 deaths.
- Kaufman County: 3,760 cases, 66 deaths.
- Ellis County: 5,229 cases, 88 deaths.
- Johnson County: 4,007 cases, 71 deaths.
