Travis Scott’s PS5 ‘Unbox Boxing’ is a fantastically cool short movie

The PlayStation 5 finally launched yesterday, and with the release, rapper Travis Scott created an epic 10-minute video celebrating the new console. The video, “A Travis Scott + Cactus Jack Experience – PS5: Unboxing Remaining,” doesn’t really show any unboxing – it’s something like a short film.

Surprisingly, the gameplay is showing a decent amount of footage Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Chat and Clink: In addition to rumors, Astro’s room, Horizon Forbidden West, And more. But that’s all in the first few minutes, after which the video just turns into a sizzle reel of games.

Scott, for some reason, plays PS5 on a tremendous TV in the middle of the desert. Later, he personally presents PS5s to two lucky kids from a PS5-based van in the parking lot. After that, the video features a musical performance by James Black. After that, there is a tribute to Pop Smoke, whose rapper died in February. The whole video is unlike any console marketing I’ve ever seen.

In addition to the video, Scott has released a full PlayStation-themed pepper line. And you can enter to win some good looking Nike with the PlayStation text logo also printed on one bottom. But entries for that competition are close today, so if you want a chance to score them you want to enter as soon as possible.

Sony announced that Scott had joined the PlayStation family as a “Strategic Creative Partner” in October, an advertisement with a short, artistic film of its own. I think today’s video and its first for PlayStation were both great, and I hope it makes more of it.

Scott’s work with Sony is not his first with video games – he had a surreal and spectacular in-concert in the game Fornite Earlier this year. It was a hugely successful film, with 12 million people taking part in the first screening, which broke down Fortnights The previous live event attendance record was held by the 2019 Marshmallow Concert.

And Scott’s PlayStation videos aren’t his odd turn on the corporate front. I’ll remind you that he made a McDonald’s commercial where an action figure describes his McDonald’s order. I’ve seen the ad many times right now, and I find it really appealing.
