Travis County Approves Tesla’s Gigafactory Incentive Package

The Travis County Commission approved the incentive package for “Tesla Giga Texas” or “Tesla Giga Austin” which apparently was all that was really needed to close the deal and get Tesla started at a factory on their land.

Tesla fans in the area quickly jumped on Twitter to pour out their joy.

And the news was reported by Austin Business Journal too. The summary of that article is as follows: “Tesla has now obtained incentives from the county government and Del Valle ISD for a gigantic factory in East Austin that could employ 5,000 and produce Cybertrucks and other vehicles.”

Naturally, it has yet to be confirmed that Tesla will choose Travis County for its next gigafactory, rather than Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently appeared for a visit, but Texas has been deemed the favorite by the technology scene culture in Austin, SpaceX operations in Boca Chica, Elon Musk’s love for Texas, the great cultural brand of Texas, Texas in the race for the first gigafactory (apparently to the end), as well as other factors that I’m surely forgetting right now.

Musk recently visited the potential Tulsa site, and a local pizzeria offered free pizzas to all Tesla employees if the company chose that location.

We will faithfully inform you if we receive any confirmation that Tesla will accept the Travis County offer and go to work with permits and construction, or if you decide that the incentives are still not enough for your royal blood and you are not ready to commit. Meanwhile, those in the Austin area are partying and our condolences to the hilarious Tulsa crew, who I’m still saying have created the website of the year (warning not to click if you get offended by the F-word).
