A woman has been killed and a man and a seven-year-old child injured after a tram in Baltimore crashed into their car Thursday morning.

The incident happened at 7:30 a.m. in downtown Baltimore when people were making their way to work.

The woman died at the scene and the 30-year-old man and children were taken to hospital. The child has life-threatening injuries and the husband has minor injuries.

It is unclear who drove the car or what the relationship between the three people is.

Their car was then trampled under the Light Rail. Firefighters had to rescue them from the wreckage.
