Trailer ‘The Batman’ uses a ghostly Nirvana Song


The Batman should be one of the bigger movies of 2021, and thanks to the debut of a new trailer, Nirvana is getting some extra attention. The new trailer is soundtrack by the ghost never mind track “Something in the way.”

Although not the original Nirvana version of the song, use of composer Michael Giacchino remains fairly close to the original, and initially keeps the solemn and muted atmosphere intact. Along the way, however, the song is enhanced with pianos, drums, keyboards, a loud vocal and later more orchestral flourishing it helps build the tension of the action playing through the trailer.

In the trailer, we see actor Robert Pattinson take over the role of the caped crusader in writer-director Matt Reeves taking over the comic franchise. Pattinson is shown both inside and outside the famous Batman suit, as he is questioned by Commissioner Gordon (Jeffrey Wright), as The Riddler (Paul Dano) shows him a series of clues through crime scenes.

The film also stars Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Peter Sarsgaard and John Turturro. The Batman is currently expected to open on October 1, 2021.

“Something In The Way” appeared on Nirvana’s massive 1991 breakout album never mind as the last mentioned song on the record (there was a hidden track “Endless, Nameless”). Although it did not come out as a single, it remained a popular deep cut and was included in the band MTV Unplugged in New York achievements as well.
